Typical applications include checking manholes, sewers, tanks and other
areas of potential oxygen deficiency; testing hard to reach areas in heat
treating atmospheres as well as measuring oxygen in inert gas, oxygen
in hydrocarbons, and tail gas monitoring in oxidation reactions. The sample
of the atmosphere to be tested is drawn through a sampling tube automatically
and continuously by means of an internal, extremely low power drain micropump,
passed over the transducer of a galvanic cell and exhausted to atmosphere.
The oxygen content is indicated directly on a large, clear liquid crystal
diode (LCD) digital meter. A single multiposition switch turns the instrument
on checks battery voltage and selects operation with or without alarm.
With the selector switch set to "Alarm" position, an intermittent tone
sounds an alarm when the oxygen drops below 18%. A depress of a meter
light switch can illuminate for testing at night and checking dimly lighted
areas. A set of 4 UM-3 (AA-size) dry cell batteries gives up to 8 hours
of continuous operation or 200 intermittent tests with an assumption of
3 minutes operation a time. When battery-operating voltage drops below
the required level, an LED power pilot lamp goes off, indicating that
batteries require replacement

Special Models
Model XPO-318 (E) - This is a specially modified model, designed to be
available for use in making a periodic measurement of oxygen in flue gas
as well as checking heat treating atmospheres. The model XPO-318(E) measure
oxygen without interference from background gases. A cooling-down probe
with a cooler and moisture trap/ filter is available for sampling heated
atmospheric air. Other special models- Model XPO-318 may be furnished
with an output for interconnection to a recorder or on external remote
signal unit. Details on request.
